Kindness and Conversation

My mother recently took a trip up north.  Given the weather, I asked her if the flight had been bumpy.  Yes, she said, but she was grateful that she had sat next to a very pleasant woman with whom she spent the time talking.  It turns out that this woman, in her 50s, had just lost her mother.  She told my mother that she felt blessed because both on the way to her mother's funeral and on the way back, she had sat next to very nice people, who made her difficult journey easier.  There is kindness and connection in conversation, which is sometimes just what we need.
