On a recent morning, I stopped by a roadside flower stand to buy flowers for a friend. I was happy that they had her favorite, tulips. When I went to pay, the gentleman charged me less – he said that he gives a discount to the first customer of the morning. I don’t know if it is true or not, or if he charged me less than he would usually charge or not, but it felt like a nice thing all the same and I found myself smiling as I got back inside my car.
