― Ralph Waldo Emerson
A woman I
know was having a real juggling kind of afternoon. In addition to her own children, she ended up
shuttling another four children to where they needed to go. And she had an important business errand that
her husband had asked her to do at the bank.
The children drop offs took longer than she anticipated. As she watched the clock near the bank
closing time, she drove steadily toward the bank. She arrived at the bank two minutes after
closing and the lobby doors were locked.
The bank manager was walking past and she looked at him with her best
"I need a favor" look. Sure
enough, he opened the locked doors and let her in. She breathed a huge sigh of relief and
thanked him. The bank manager could have
played things by the book and kept the bank doors locked. Instead, he decided to be kind, and enabled
this mom to accomplish the seemingly impossible.
