― Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
Most times,
at the end of each day, I think about kindness and how I experienced it that
day. Today, kindness came in the form of
sweets.
A friend of
mine called me this afternoon. "I
have a surprise for you," she said.
It seems that someone at her job had received a gift that required being
eaten fairly quickly ― a tin of one of my favorite cookies, a
Peruvian delicacy. My friend does not
care for them, so she volunteered to take them for her friend who does.
Later in the
evening, a friend texted to see if I was at our regular Friday night pizza
place. She came by on her way out of
town with giant jars of Nutella for my children.
The sweets
are an incredible treat, especially for those of us with a sweet tooth. But the real kindness is in the
thoughtfulness that brought the sweets to us.
