The Kindness of a Weekend

My friend who moved to the other side of the world was in town for the holidays.  A few months ago, we planned a weekend away with both of our families during their time in the States.  My friend always says, "If it's important, you schedule it."  And so we did.  As the weekend approached, we realized that it never would have happened if we had not scheduled it.  So many things would have gotten in the way and indeed life threatened to interrupt our weekend.  But we held fast and enjoyed a long weekend at a beach resort with both our families.  We had an amazing time and were all grateful for the time together.  Time truly is the greatest gift.
