― Jacques Yves Cousteau
My children
recently received a very generous gift from the owner of a violin shop. We had taken in a bow to be rehaired and when
we arrived to pick it up, the shop owner could not immediately find it. It was not a big deal as she had loaned us
what was clearly a nicer bow in the meantime.
When we returned to pick up the bow, she gave us the rehaired bow and
also insisted on giving new bows to my children. At first, I told her that we could not accept
them, but she insisted and said that she wanted to.
As we were
leaving, I remembered being in the store a while back when someone had brought
her flowers to thank her for being so kind.
After the person left, the shop owner told me that she did not remember what she
had done to deserve the flowers. I think
some people are like that ― they just don't keep track of their kind acts.
