At the end of
a particularly long day, my nine-year-old asked, "How was your
day?" "I'm tired," I
replied (even though I had decided, on Oprah's advice, not to use that phrase
any more). I can see why," he said
very thoughtfully. "Why do you say
that? " I asked. "Because you
have been running around all day," he answered.
At the Oprah
weekend -- yep, I can't let it go, I heard her talk about how important it is
for each of us to know that we matter.
Hearing my son say that he understood why I was tired made me feel as
though I mattered. And that lifted my
tired spirit.
