The Kindness of Teenage Daughters

"The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life."
~ Richard Bach

Ah, teenagers...  There are days... And then there are days when the things they do remind you of how much your heart overflows with love for them.

On a recent Sunday morning, I planned to go to a fundraiser in memory of a friend who lost her battle with pancreatic cancer three months ago -- the same cancer that claimed my father's life.  I wanted my teenagers to accompany me because both the person and the cause mean a lot to me.  I also knew that the event would be family friendly as it was an afternoon of dance performances.  I told my teenagers that I was hoping they would go with me.  Then I held my breath wondering what reaction I would receive.  To my surprise and delight, they agreed to come, dressed more than appropriately and were ready to go even before I was.  The kicker was that we had a great time.  On the way home, I told them more than once how very much their joining me meant.
