Kindness and Strangers on Planes

“I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.”
~ Tennessee Williams

On a recent flight, the woman sitting next to me barely made it on the plane before the doors closed.  Finding no space in our overhead compartment, she stowed her suitcase several rows behind ours.  After we landed, she realized that it would be very difficult to get back to where her luggage was, especially as she was rushing to work.  As passengers got up from their seats and stood in the aisle waiting to deplane, she asked a gentleman several rows behind us to help her.  The man took her luggage out of the overhead compartment and wheeled it to our row, so that she could exit without waiting for the entire plane to clear out.
