At a recent
work meeting, one of my newer colleagues walked in with a small gift for each
of us – personalized labels for our laptop computers. It occurred to him that since we all have
identical laptops, it would be a good idea for them to be labeled and thus
easily identifiable at meetings. Given
how often my name is misspelled – and I do realize that there is ample
opportunity for mistakes given its length, I imagined that he might spell my
name incorrectly. I almost expected
it. To my great surprise, my colleague
had taken the time to double-check the spelling of my name and the label was
perfect! I appreciate his thoughtfulness
in making labels for us, but I appreciate his making sure to spell my name
right even more.
