Kindness and the Helpers

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”

In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, there have been many stories of people reaching out and helping others.  One of the most poignant is the one of the police officer, a 60-year-old department veteran, who died on his way to work.  All this has made me think of the Mr. Rogers’ quote about the helpers.  It is the kindness of the helpers that gives us hope.
