“A gentle word, a kind look, a good-natured
smile can work wonders and accomplish miracles.”
~ William Hazlitt
There are
kindnesses and then there are miracles.
A woman I
know had a busy week, including an event for work that she organized. Thankfully, it was not until the day after
her event that her tooth broke. She was
going out of town the next day and it was already late afternoon. Panicked, she called one of her dearest friends, a
dentist. A few hours later, the woman
was sitting in her friend’s office and even though she was terrified, miracles
were underway. With a smile and her
never-failing good humor, her friend reassured her and told her not to worry
that she was actually quite good at repairing broken teeth. When her friend finished, she handed the
woman a mirror. The woman could hardly
believe that there was something that looked just like a tooth in the spot
where there had been a tooth with a missing chunk. She hugged her friend several times and knew
that she would never be able to express her gratitude or to even begin to repay the kindness.
