"Wherever there is a human being,
there is an opportunity for a kindness."
~ Lucius Annaeus Seneca
I recently
visited a supermarket in another neighborhood and was surprised by various
kindnesses. At the deli, my daughter
ordered a sandwich. After the deli
person put lettuce on it, we asked her if she could heat up the sandwich. Of course, she said, and asked if we wanted
her to take the lettuce off and put it back on after the sandwich was
heated. Only if it was not too much
trouble, we said. No problem. When the woman finished making the sandwich,
instead of handing it to us over the counter, she came out from behind the
counter and handed it to my daughter and wished us a nice day. Wow. At
check out, as we were loading our items on the conveyor belt, another cashier
came over to help us empty the cart. It
was a surprisingly pleasant grocery shopping experience.
