At a wedding
recently, I met a lovely young woman and her three-year-old son. The boy, who was all decked out in his
wedding attire, was adorable and stayed very close to his mother. She shared that his father is a Marine
deployed in Afghanistan, and that sometimes her son cries for his Daddy and she
feels badly that there is nothing she can do.
Her husband is due home late November or early December, so hopefully in
time for Christmas. "Who
knew," she said, about the way life turns out. I told her
that I would pray for her husband and his safe return as well as for her and
her son.
There is certainly kindness in
serving one's country. But somehow
kindness does not do this type of service justice, although it most definitely
springs from a very kind -- and brave -- heart.
