Kindness at a Shelter

"Somewhere near you, somebody right now is trying to help the indigent and poor -- providing food, shelter, clothing or simple kindness."
~ Tony Snow

I heard this lovely story on NPR:  In the aftermath of the floods in Louisiana, a schools superintendent who was running a shelter recounted encountering a "little old lady" who got off a bus and arrived at the shelter with her small dog in her arms.  She asked him if the dog could stay with her at the shelter.  He told her, "Sweetheart, as long as you hold onto that dog and it's not aggressive and would not hurt anyone, I am not turning you away or that pet."
