"The superior man is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions."
- Confucius
On a recent trip abroad, I was in a coffee shop (ok, a Starbucks) looking to find a place to sit. Our tour guide thought he had found a table, but as I approached it to sit down, a gentleman signaled the he was sitting there. We did not speak the same language. A few minutes later, the gentleman gestured that the table next to him had opened up.
I said a badly pronounced thank you to the gentleman in his language, grateful for the familiar in a strange land -- both the Starbucks and the kindness.
