The Kindness of an Unexpected Treat

Sometimes, people -- even ones you have never met personally -- can make your day.  On a recent Monday (and oh, what a Monday), I received a package from someone in New York with whom I have done work, but never met.  Over the holidays, she traveled to Hawaii and got chocolate-covered hazelnut shortbread cookies for me.  She carted them back to New York, wrapped them and sent them to me.  No surprise, the cookies are delicious.  But the thoughtfulness behind the gift is priceless.
