"A friend should be one in whose understanding and virtue we can easily confide, and whose opinion we can value at once for its justness and its sincerity."
-- Robert Hall
I recently had the opportunity to spend a couple of quiet evenings with one of my dearest friends from college, thanks to a business trip that took me to the city where she lives. We don't see each other often enough, but our ability to have meaningful conversations seems completely unaffected by distance. Our in-person, late-night conversations end only when we can't keep our eyes open any longer. And one of the things I appreciate the most is how well she understands me.
