Kindness on the Side of the Road

"I have always depended on the kindness of strangers."
~ Tennessee Williams

On a recent evening, I was speaking to a dear friend as he was on the tail end of a long commute home.  All of a sudden, he said, "Let me call you back -- something is wrong with my car."  A few minutes later, he called me back and shared that several lights in the car advised him to pull over, stop the car and not open the hood.  As he complied with the car's orders, another driver stopped and asked him if he needed any help.  The other driver offered to help him push the car and discussed what might be wrong.  The stranger's kindness made an impact on my friend and I am sure softened the inconvenience of his car trouble.
